Last night was one of those rare moments where you knew you were watching something people would be talking about for years.

The closest comparison that comes to mind is when President Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania after nearly being assassinated. There was that same feeling that something bigger than a normal political event was happening.

For months, the media had been relentlessly attacking Trump’s idea of hosting UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House.

The entire week leading up to the event, the narrative was already written.

The weather was going to ruin it. The fighters wouldn’t want to fight outdoors. The crowd wasn’t going to sit through thunderstorms. The mosquitoes would be unbearable. The logistics would be a disaster.

Every day seemed to bring a new reason why this thing supposedly wasn’t going to work.

Then Saturday night arrived and none of it mattered. The storms passed, the crowd showed up and all of the fighters delivered.

And what unfolded on the White House lawn ended up being one of the most memorable nights in UFC history.

From the moment the event finally got underway, you could tell the atmosphere was different. The fans knew they were witnessing something that had never happened before and may never happen again.

After a brief delay to let a thunderstorm move through the area, President Trump made his entrance on his 80th birthday alongside his friend Dana White.

Standing on the balcony of the South Portico overlooking thousands of fight fans and military service members, Trump saluted the crowd as cheers rolled across the White House grounds.

The place was electric.

Then Zac Brown stepped forward to perform the national anthem.

As he sang, military aircraft roared overhead and the crowd turned its attention skyward.

When the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds ripped across Washington in a Super Delta formation, the reaction from the crowd was deafening.

The fights themselves quickly lived up to the atmosphere.

One of the early highlights came when Bo Nickal scored a knockout victory over Kyle Daukaus.

Afterward, speaking with Joe Rogan inside the cage, Nickal took a moment to acknowledge the man responsible for making the entire event possible.

NIKAL: “It feels amazing.”

“First and foremost, got to thank President Trump for making this happen.”

“Thank you Dana, all the UFC, everybody.”

“This is unbelievable!”

“It takes such a special person to have the balls to do something like this and I have so much respect for him.”

“I’ve had that for a long time and I’m just grateful to be here, grateful to be a part of it...”

But as memorable as the undercard was, everyone knew what the night would ultimately be remembered for.

The main event had been hyped for weeks.

The undefeated Spaniard Ilia Topuria was walking into the biggest fight of his career against 37-year-old American veteran fighter Justin Gaethje, and very few people were giving Gaethje much of a chance.

The sportsbooks had counted him out. The prediction markets had counted him out. Plenty of analysts had counted him out.

Even Topuria himself had just celebrated the win against Gaethje the night before the fight with his family and friends.

Then Gaethje made his walk.

Draped in an American flag and emerging from the White House itself as a live band played a cover of Claude Ely’s gospel classic “Ain’t No Grave,” it was one of those moments that immediately gave you chills.

You could see it on his face. Gaethje didn’t look like a man who thought he was supposed to lose.

Joe Rogan summed up his mentality perfectly as the cameras followed him toward the cage.

JOE ROGAN: “His conviction to do damage on opponents regardless of what happens to him. He said earlier in career when he first started fighting in the UFC, ‘I’m gonna lose, I’m gonna lose by knockout. But I’m going to win more than I’m going to lose and I am going to throw myself at these guys and break them.’”

From the opening bell, it became clear this wasn’t going to be the quick finish many people expected.

Topuria landed and Gaethje answered. Gaethje landed, then Topuria fired right back.

Neither man gave an inch, and with every round the crowd became more invested in what was unfolding inside the cage. It was exactly the kind of fight people dream about when they imagine a championship bout on a stage this big, on the White House lawn.

Then came the moment that changed everything.

In the third round, Gaethje dropped Topuria and the White House grounds exploded. Suddenly, the upset didn’t seem impossible anymore.

For the first time all night, you could feel people starting to believe that Gaethje might actually pull this off.

“USA!” chants erupted periodically as Gaethje exhibited true American grit.

Topuria survived the round, but the momentum had already shifted. The confidence that had followed him into the fight suddenly looked a little different, while Gaethje seemed to be getting stronger as the fight went on.

The battle never made it to a fifth round.

At the end of the fourth, Topuria’s corner made the difficult decision to throw in the towel after the punishment he had absorbed.

Just like that, it was over.

Justin Gaethje had pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

The 37-year-old launched himself into a backflip off the cage as thousands of fans roared their approval, celebrating the biggest victory of his career and a moment that instantly became part of UFC lore.

But somehow the best moment of the night was still to come.

When Joe Rogan interviewed Gaethje after the fight, he pointed out that the new lightweight champion had entered the bout as a six-to-one underdog.

Gaethje’s response instantly became one of the lines of the year.

GAETHJE: “Hey, I’m from America. 250 years ago we were WAY bigger than 6-1 dogs!”

“And look at us thriving now!”

The crowd absolutely erupted.

Gaethje then thanked current and former military service members, first responders, police officers, firefighters, and ultimately gave glory to God for the opportunity.

“To all the current, former, and future military service members, thank you so much.”

“Thank you so much to all of the first responders, police officers, firefighters...you guys have no idea how grateful I am...”

“And all glory to God. I prayed so much for this opportunity, to do something legendary.”

“And I know that was absolutely legendary because I cannot even believe it.”

It was one a rare sports moments where everything seemed to come together perfectly.

The underdog won. The crowd got the fight they wanted. The venue somehow exceeded the hype, and the symbolism practically wrote itself.

After the dust settled, fireworks lit up the sky behind the Washington Monument as music echoed across the National Mall and fans slowly began making their way home.

President Trump stood inside the octagon beside Dana White, taking in the scene.

For longtime UFC fans, there was something fitting about that image.

More than two decades ago, when many venues and businesmen wanted nothing to do with the UFC, Trump was one of the few people willing to give the promotion a chance.

For all the criticism, all the predictions of failure, and all the reasons people said this event would never work, UFC Freedom 250 delivered exactly what its supporters believed it would.

It was over-the-top, but it was uniquely American. It was part sporting event, part cultural moment, and part celebration of the country’s 250th birthday.

Spencer Pratt may be best known for reality television, but if you watched his appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast this morning, you saw something very different.

What started as a conversation about his long-shot campaign for mayor of Los Angeles quickly turned into a discussion about why so many ordinary Californians have lost faith in the people running their city.

And throughout the interview, Pratt kept bringing the conversation back to one central point: the political class, the elites, are obsessed with issues that matter to them, while regular people are worried about problems that are right in front of their faces.

The conversation began with the wild story of how Pratt ended up running for mayor in the first place.

According to Pratt, becoming mayor was never the goal. He’s just a man who lost his house in the Palisades fire.

SPENCER PRATT: “I never planned to be the mayor of LA.”

“I only ran to have a bigger platform to expose all the negligence, is the reason why I even ran because this person in charge burned my house down, my mom’s house, my neighbors.”

Maher pushed back immediately, arguing that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass deserved criticism but wasn’t personally responsible for the fires.

BILL MAHER: “Honestly, I keep hearing you say that…you’re making it a little too personal.”

“I mean, she is not a great mayor…and that is a very common view even among a lot of Democrats…”

“She fcked up some things, a lot of people fcked up some things…one person didn’t burn your house down.”

Pratt actually agreed with part of Maher’s point, but explained why the issue still feels personal to him.

SPENCER PRATT: “Agreed, agreed. But let me…one person who’s in charge of all the things that got f*cked up that burned my house down.”

“So you have to hold somebody responsible who’s in charge.”

When Maher acknowledged that leadership carries responsibility, Pratt brought the conversation back to what happened in his own neighborhood.

SPENCER PRATT: “She was in Ghana, so she obviously didn’t light the fire, so…”

“But it is personal because I have to hear my crying mom every day, the lady across from my house burned alive…that lady with parrots, you know, so it is personal.”

That exchange really set the tone for the rest of the interview.

Maher often approaches politics from an ideological perspective. Pratt kept dragging the conversation back to real-world consequences.

The same thing happened when the discussion shifted to why Pratt became a Republican.

According to Pratt, it started with death threats he was receiving from appearing on the reality TV show The Hills.

SPENCER PRATT: “So I was getting all of these death threats, so obviously my security’s like, you need to get a gun.”

“So I get a gun.”

“And then as I am a gun owner, with my wife, in Los Angeles to have a gun, you need a CCW.”

“So that’s a concealed carry weapons permit.”

“Very hard to get, and the only people that supported a CCW was the Republican Party.”

“All I cared about politically was to protect my wife and then my kids.”

“That’s my only political thing I’m connected to.”

Again, Pratt wasn’t talking about abstract political theories. After all, he had made it clear that he is not a politician.

He was talking about protecting his family.

That theme kept coming up throughout the show.

Then came the moment that changed the entire interview.

No example could have better illustrated the divide between the average Californian and the Democrat elites.

Pratt dragged Maher out of his liberal bubble and brought him back down to earth.

Maher started discussing California’s regulatory nightmare and brought up the years-long process he went through to get solar panels approved.

Pratt casually mentioned that he thought California was now taxing solar users.

Maher immediately jumped on him.

BILL MAHER: “They are?”

PRATT: “I think so.”

MAHER: “What do you mean you think so?! You have to know!”

Maher seemed genuinely annoyed that Pratt couldn’t immediately recite the details.

Pratt’s response perfectly summed up his entire campaign.

SPENCER PRATT: “I don’t need to know about solar, you know?”

“I need to focus on making sure the moms are safe and the animals are not being abused. That’s my party.”

Maher kept insisting that mayors need to understand policy details. Pratt wasn’t having it.

MAHER: “No, Spencer. I got bad news. If you’re the mayor, you are going to have to learn some of these issues more intricately.”

SPENCER PRATT: “Solar panels…we’re about three years from worrying about solar panels.”

“We need to get all of the naked drug addicts off of the sidewalks and then I can worry about solar panels.”

That was it. He had won the listeners over. That exchange probably did more to explain Pratt’s appeal than anything else he said all night.

Maher wanted to discuss policy mechanics.

Pratt wanted to discuss what people actually see when they walk outside their front door.

That’s when Pratt dropped an even bigger truth bomb and Maher didn’t know what say.

Pratt started talking about homelessness epidemic specifically in Los Angeles.

SPENCER PRATT: “Ready for the best part?”

“60% of the people in Los Angeles that are ‘experiencing homelessness’ — they’re not from California.”

“They’ve been brought here by NGOs that profit off of this homeless industrial complex, Medicaid…”

Maher immediately interrupted.

BILL MAHER: “Wait, wait, wait…”

“They’ve been brought here?”

SPENCER PRATT: “They’ve been brought here.”

BILL MAHER: “Who did that?”

PRATT: “Body brokers bring these people here.”

MAHER: “From where?”

PRATT: “All across the country.”

Maher couldn’t even fathom what he had just heard. Pratt was exposing how Los Angeles has effectively become a magnet because of the incentives built into the current system.

Whether people agree with that assessment or not, it was another example of Pratt pulling the discussion away from ideology and toward the practical consequences he believes residents are dealing with every day.

That led naturally into a conversation about socialism.

Pratt argued that many struggling voters are being sold a fantasy.

SPENCER PRATT: “I feel like people are all hyped on socialism because they’re like, everything’s so expensive! America’s failed! Give me money!”

“But what they’re forgetting is all the people that these socialists are saying they’re taking the money [from] and giving it [to], they’re going to leave.”

“And then they’re not going to have any money to take from these people to give to you.”

He pointed out how economic growth comes from encouraging businesses to expand and hire, not constantly searching for new groups to tax.

SPENCER PRATT: “I keep telling people, the way we get you money is stopping the socialism, letting the successful rich people build businesses, build restaurants, put money into your pocket because there’s more jobs. There’s more opportunity.”

Finally, the conversation turned back to the mayoral race itself.

Pratt couldn’t resist taking one more shot at Councilwoman Nithya Raman.

He told told Maher that he bodied “communist” Democrat councilwoman Raman so badly in the mayoral debate that she went from 64% to 8% odds of becoming mayor.

Maher couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

SPENCER PRATT: “After the debate, the one lady, the communist, socialist…she went from—”

MAHER: “What’s her name?”

PRATT: “Councilwoman Raman.”

“She went from 64% on Kalshi to 8%.”

“So she got bodied, she’s DONE.”

Maher was floored.

BILL MAHER: “Oh come on! After one debate?”

PRATT: “With me, yeah.”

Whether or not Pratt actually becomes mayor isn’t really the point.

What made the interview interesting was watching someone completely outside the political establishment force a conversation about issues that many Los Angeles residents care about far more than the topics that usually dominate cable news.

By the end of the podcast, Maher kept trying to pull the discussion toward policy details, ideology, and political theory.

Pratt kept pulling it back towards the things that people actually care about; crime, homelessness, public safety, government incompetence, and the consequences of failed leadership.

For better or worse, that’s why his campaign has managed to attract attention in the first place.

He’s running as a guy whose house burned down, who thinks the people in charge failed, and who is tired of hearing excuses.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ran a 30-second ad during the 2026 Super Bowl portraying its officers as everyday Americans working to keep the country safe.

The ad described federal immigration officers as “friends and neighbors” who “love this country,” while showing footage of parents, veterans, and people in uniform going about their daily lives.

It also highlighted the tough work these men and women do every day:

“They are removing violent criminals from our streets and neighborhoods.”

“It’s dangerous and difficult work, but ICE has one mission: to make America a safer place to live.”

“And that’s what they’re doing.”

The underlying message was that ICE officers are just regular people, regular Americans, committed to protecting their communities.

“This is law enforcement. This is ICE.”

The ad also pushed back against left-wing narratives that aim to dehumanize law enforcement, showing these officers for what they are: neighbors, patriots, and public servants.

9. Cadillac Formula 1 Team: America’s New Team

Cadillac is entering Formula 1 for the 2026 season, bringing American engineering and ambition to the world’s fastest stage.

During the Super Bowl, the automaker premiered a one-minute ad that blended cutting-edge technology with classic American spirit.

Stunning visuals showcased the sleek new F1 car and the engineers behind it, while President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 words at Rice University echoed over the scene:

“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win.”

Cadillac was telling viewers that the same American pioneering spirit Kennedy celebrated in the space race, is what drives their approach to Formula 1.

The ad’s entire message was that there is a third option to the abortion vs. pro-life debate for women.

The 60-second spot opens with a young woman looking at a pregnancy test and discovering she’s pregnant.

Gentle piano music begins, and a voice breaks the silence:

“I know you never expected this.”

The scene shifts.

Outside, angry pro-choice protesters shout, signs raised high, voices clashing — the chaos of the debate spilling into her world.

She feels caught in the middle, pulled in every direction, unsure who to listen to or where to turn.

“The anger and the voices are so loud.”

The narration continues, offering something different for women who don’t know what the right move is.

“They’re telling you that you’ve only got two choices. But the truth is, there’s three.”

“Are these options difficult? Of course they are.”

The ad closes with a simple message, quiet but clear:

“But you deserve to know, adoption is an option.”

A brilliantly executed ad, shining a light on an option many women across America probably hadn’t considered before seeing this.
