Chamath Just Revealed What Trump Told Him at Dinner About Nuclear War
He Says it Reminded Him Exactly Why He Voted For Him
On the All-In Podcast, Chamath Palihapitiya recalled a moment that stayed with him during a private dinner with President Trump.
Trump gave a short speech that, in Chamath’s words, “reminded me why I was so inclined to vote for him.”
Trump spoke about his uncle, who warned him about the destructive power of nuclear weapons and how most people don’t fully grasp the severity. Trump ended by saying about the war in Ukraine:
“This is why I'm so fundamentally against this thing.”
For Chamath, it was a wake-up call.
“It is so easy to forget that there's only one existential risk——where all these issues become fringe issues,”
He then pointed out how everything from tariffs to border policy means nothing while on the brink of nuclear war.
“And I was like, I am so glad this guy's in charge, because this one issue, he never wavers.” He contrasted that clarity with the uncertainty he felt under Biden:
“This was where my biggest issue with Biden was, was I did not know who was in control.”
Now, with Trump back in office, Chamath says the difference is already clear:
“In the first hundred days—has reinforced that there are no conditions under which he'll go to war. He has time and time again, showed, find the off ramp. And I think that that's really healthy for Americans to see.”
Yes, "Trump will never go to war".
