2 inmates on the run after escaping Louisiana jail, police say
SUMMARY
Louisiana police captured two of four inmates who escaped unnoticed from Tangipahoa Parish Jail over the weekend. Omarion Hookfin, 19; Avery Guidry, 19; Jamarcus Cyprian, 20; and Travon Johnson, 21, escaped through a weak section of the fence. Guards were unaware until a relative of an escapee alerted them on Sunday. By then, all four had fled. Police soon found Johnson and Guidry, linked to a 2022 homicide, hiding in a dumpster. Hookfin, also connected to the homicide, and Cyprian, serving time for armed robbery, remain at large. The breakout exploited corroded fencing during recreation time. Chief Jimmy Travis admitted jail staffing issues contributed to the escape.
