Chicago: 13-Year-Old Girl Shot While Allegedly Stealing Car

Chicago police reported that a 13-year-old girl was shot by a car owner on Tuesday morning while allegedly attempting to steal the car. According to ABC 7, the owner fired at both the girl and a 14-year-old boy who was reportedly with her. The bullet struck the girl in the right side of her body, and she was transported to the hospital, where she remains in stable condition. CBS News interviewed the owner's sister, who stated that her sister, a security guard with a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card, discovered the two young kids attempting to steal her car by breaking a window. The Chicago Tribune mentioned that both juveniles were charged with attempting to possess a stolen vehicle and causing criminal damage to property valued at less than $500.
