Dave Chapelle attacker sues Hollywood Bowl over the incident

Isaiah Lee, the man who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in May 2022, is suing the venue and its security team. Lee alleges he was "ruthlessly" beaten and had his shoulder dislocated after rushing the stage and tackling Chappelle. He, who identifies as bisexual, took offense at Chappelle's jokes about the LGBTQ community and homelessness. The lawsuit argues that the Hollywood Bowl and its security company failed to handle the situation properly and should have intervened to protect Lee instead of participating in the altercation. Lee was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and possession of a weapon, as police found a replica handgun containing a knife in his possession. Lee claims he experienced physical injuries and emotional distress from the incident.
