JD Vance says he is ‘skeptical’ Pence’s life was in danger on Jan. 6

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) expressed skepticism that former Vice President Mike Pence's life was in danger during the January 6, 2021, riots at the Capitol. When Collins pointed out that some rioters chanted "Hang Mike Pence!" during the attack, Vance responded that while some individuals may have said extreme things, it is unreasonable to blame former President Trump for every negative remark made by participants in American democracy. Collins emphasized that Pence was present in the Capitol on that day overseeing the certification of the 2020 election. The Secret Service confirmed that Pence, along with his wife and daughter, was taken to an underground loading dock for safety. Pence has criticized Trump's actions on January 6 and defended his decision to certify the election results.
