Migrant arrested in pre-teen kidnap, rape weeks after crossing border

Marvin Perez Lopez, a 20-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, has been arrested in Florida on charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. Lopez had illegally crossed the Mexican border into the U.S. earlier this year. The alleged assault took place in Lake Worth Beach, south of West Palm Beach, where Lopez reportedly abducted the girl and assaulted her in a van parked outside her family home. The girl's mother intervened, allowing her daughter to escape. Despite initially fearing for her own immigration status, the girl's mother eventually contacted the police. Lopez fled from police but was later apprehended and is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. He has confessed to the charges.
