Trump assassination attempt suspect Ryan Wesley Routh wrote a book urging Iran to 'kill' the former president
SUMMARY
Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the assassination attempt on Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club, had previously urged Iran to kill Trump in his self-published e-book, Ukraine's Unwinnable War. Released in 2023, the book features Routh’s criticism of Trump, whom he referred to as a “buffoon” and a “brainless child” for pulling the U.S. out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. In a scathing passage, Routh took personal responsibility for voting for Trump, writing, "I must take part of the blame for the retarded child we elected for our next president... I misjudged and made a terrible mistake." Routh went on to offer himself and Trump as targets for assassination by Iran: "You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling of the deal." The book also explores Routh's belief that the war in Ukraine was unwinnable and laced with broader geopolitical frustrations. Ukraine's Unwinnable War is still available for purchase on Amazon for $2.99.
