House GOP lawmaker accuses Biden admin of using taxpayer funds for his re-election 'campaign activities'

Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, accused the Biden administration of using taxpayer funds for campaign activities supporting President Biden's re-election campaign. Her claims are based on a memorandum of understanding between the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Michigan Department of State to promote voter registration in Michigan through 2036, in line with Biden's 2021 executive order to promote voter participation. Van Duyne argued that the SBA's outreach events in Michigan primarily occurred in areas with high populations of Democratic target demographics, potentially violating the Hatch Act by using taxpayer funds for partisan campaigning. She believes the SBA should focus on helping small businesses struggling under Biden's economic policies instead of engaging in political activities. The House Small Business Committee requested more information from SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, but has yet to receive a response.
