Report: Suspected California Fertility Clinic Bomber Had ‘Anti-Natalist Ideology,’ Opposed Increasing Population

SUMMARY
The FBI has confirmed that the deadly bombing at a Palm Springs fertility clinic was a deliberate act of terrorism, carried out by 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, who reportedly held extreme anti-natalist views—believing people should not have children. The explosion, which occurred Saturday morning at American Reproductive Centers (ARC), was caused by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device that rocked the area, shattering windows and damaging nearby businesses. Bartkus died in the blast; four others were injured. Authorities say Bartkus had shared writings and audio recordings condemning IVF and population growth. “This was an intentional act of terrorism,” said FBI Los Angeles Field Office chief Akil Davis, noting the motive is still being investigated as domestic or international terrorism. Police recovered an AK-47, AR-style rifle, and ammunition next to the wreckage. Fortunately, ARC’s lab storing eggs and embryos was not damaged in the attack.
