UK warship HMS Diamond shoots down Houthi missile - as Palestinian officials say five killed in Israeli strikes on Rafah

The Royal Navy reported that a UK warship, HMS Diamond, intercepted a Houthi missile targeting a merchant ship in the Gulf of Aden. Using its Sea Viper missile system, the ship successfully thwarted the attack. HMS Diamond has been on patrol in the region since March and previously intercepted nine drones earlier in the year. The Iran-linked Houthi rebels, based in Yemen, have targeted ships they claim are associated with Israel or its allies in the Red Sea region. The number of attacks has decreased recently. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed at least five people in Rafah, including two children and a journalist. These developments are part of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has resulted in significant civilian casualties and displacement. The situation remains tense, with international efforts underway to mediate a potential truce and address the humanitarian crisis.
