Write-in votes exceed 60K in Pennsylvania Democratic primary after ‘uncommitted’ campaign against Biden

oVERTON'S SUMMARY

More than 60,000 Democratic voters in Pennsylvania cast write-in ballots against President Joe Biden in the state's presidential primary, representing 5.6% of the vote. The write-in effort, promoted by a group called Uncommitted PA, was in protest of Biden's support for Israel in the conflict with Hamas. Uncommitted PA encouraged voters to write in "uncommitted" on their ballots. The group viewed the results as a "massive write-in victory," seeing it as a clear indicator of voter dissatisfaction with Biden. The total number of write-ins, including those for Representative Dean Phillips, reached nearly 130,000 across the state. The group warned that Biden must change his stance on the conflict to secure victory in the key swing state of Pennsylvania in the November election. Similar protests occurred in other battleground states such as Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
