Trump Just Dropped a Bombshell After Meeting With Syria’s New President

Says they’re likely to join the Abraham Accords.

In a surprise revelation aboard Air Force One, former President Donald Trump shared details of his recent meeting with Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa—and signaled that a historic shift in Middle East diplomacy could be on the horizon.

Speaking to reporters during his flight, Trump offered his first impressions of the new Syrian leader.

“Great, I think very good,” he said. “Young, attractive guy. Tough guy. Strong past—very strong past. Fighter.”

Trump voiced cautious optimism that al-Sharaa could bring much-needed stability to a country long devastated by war, terrorism, and foreign interference.

“He’s got a real shot at pulling it together,” Trump said.

“I spoke with President Erdogan, who I’m very friendly with. He feels he’s got a shot.”

But it was Trump’s next comment that stunned the press corps.

When asked whether Syria might eventually join the Abraham Accords—a landmark normalization agreement between Israel and several Arab nations—Trump didn’t hesitate.

“Yeah—but I think they have to get themselves straightened out,” he said.

“I told him I hope you’re going to join when it’s straightened out.”

According to Trump, the response from al-Sharaa was direct: “He said yes.”

If realized, Syria’s inclusion in the Abraham Accords would represent a seismic breakthrough in Middle East diplomacy. Syria’s pivot toward peace could help further isolate extremist elements in the region and pave the way for economic recovery and international reintegration.
