Victor Davis Hanson isn’t buying the sudden media soul-searching.
In a brutal indictment he calls out the pattern we’ve seen too many times before:
“It’s Russian collusion, it’s laptop disinformation, it’s 51 intelligence authorities—again and again. They have no credibility.”
So why the change of heart now?
Hanson says it’s not about courage. It’s about convenience.
“The only reason we are even talking about it now is that Joe Biden has no power to reward or punish Jake Tapper and the media,” he explained.
Now that Biden’s grip on power is gone, those who once helped cover for him are scrambling to rewrite the story. And Hanson sees right through it.
“They are very brave now because he's out of power and Jake Tapper wants to redeem himself,” he said.
“And we all know that if he wasn't writing this book, he would be quiet right now.”
Even the tone of remorse doesn’t pass the smell test.
“His publisher has probably told him you've got to make a half-hearted apology, which he didn't do,” Hanson said.
“He said he feels humbled or a little bit contrite.”
Then came the classic sleight-of-hand—a sudden pivot to the President’s health.
“Just three days before this book,” Hanson noted, “the Biden family or the Biden spokespeople [were] announcing the medical condition.”
And the timing?
“That was unfortunately timed to draw attention away, using a medical crisis.”
But Hanson says it fell flat.
“No one believed the medical exigencies that this was a fairly recent development.”
The pattern is all too familiar. Crisis. Distraction. Performative remorse. And above all, zero accountability.
In the end, Hanson brought it back to the core issue:
“So, you nailed it on the head. It’s Russian collusion, it’s laptop disinformation, it’s 51 intelligence authorities—again and again—and they have no credibility. And they want us to believe them, and no one believes them anymore.”
